Weblogs or blogs have been around for at about 14 years and there are a lot of them. Podcasts have been around for the past 6 years or so and there is a growing industry of software and equipment around podcasting. These equipment and software may be bought as discrete parts of a system, or you can buy all-in-one podcast systems.
Podcast systems include a mixer, microphone and a mic stand, very much what you would expect in a studio setup. The mixer is to allow multiple input ports, and the mic stand is a convenience and assures that you are comfortable while talking.
